Thanks for your input guys. 
As stated, the puter came good through unknown reasons.
Got a new Netgear 16 port switch which worked a treat the moment i plugged it in.
I believe the old switch blew it's top at the same time Sally was trying to connect the problem puter to the net. Combination of issues.
It will take a while to settle things down, with replacing some mobo's etc.
All's well that ends well. Thanks again.
