PlanetBattleField has put up an article previewing the upcoming sequel to the very popular BattleField 1942. Check it out.
I was led up a spiral staircase to wait in front of the room that Battlefield 2 was going to be shown. I was with my good friend from my home town and fellow IGN/GameSpy employee, Mr. Pants. Some of you might know him as the mastermind behind the famed PBF Quick Match or the Excessive mod series. At the top of the stairs I met AJ Marini, the lead designer for Battlefield: Vietnam, and Sean Decker. They too were there to check out the presentation of Battlefield 2. The door opened and we were led into a darkened room with a big screen monitor with full complements of tantalizing surround sound. Lars Gustavsson, lead designer for Battlefield 2, standing to the right of the monitor which was displaying the Battlefield 2 logo. I have to admit I was extremely excited and honored that I was in the room with some of the top people who made Battlefield possible. Well, I was also thrilled being one of the first people to see the next game in the series.

I'm so ecstatic about this. I hope they don't delay this game and it lives up to its full billing. Realistic warfare games are so cool. 100 person maps! Woohoo....

I just hope it's not overhyped like Battlefield: Vietnam.

I don't think it's really based on a war like WWII or Vietnam. I think it's just desert warfare with some GW and Iraq battles thrown in.

I hope they don't mess with any ofthe physics from BF1942. All FPS games should be based off of the BF1942 physics engine.

The thing about the BF1942 engine is that you can't do alot of stuff with it, like sticky c4, rappelling from a BH, lighting effects, shadow and other stuff.
