I don't know how many prizes there could be around here now; Doug just donated all his extra review parts to be prizes at the SM LAN, and as ed said, everybody else donates their spare parts to the folding team!

You guys are thinking too narrowmindedly.

It doesn't neccessarily have to be a computer item... or even a good item...

    Just something.

Case badge, mousepad, pineapple, atm card...

errr, maybe not the last thing.

It's more of a token, a gesture... than something someone is actually trying to get.

    Fold on.

A monthly drawing for a pineapple? Every milestone during the month gets you an entry?

I will donate a pineapple for next month's winner. I'm dead serious about that.

    Y'see...

    A can of green beans.

Shipping will easily be 15x the cost of the greenbeans.

He prob tried to type 'a can of greenbacks' and couldn't get it out.

But to be serious non-computer items would work better. Food is interesting. It wouldn't work for international, but we can figure something else out.

Let's see what do we have here in Milwaukee that people might want, an H-D shirt? some cheese? real good bratwurst? beer is too heavy to ship.....
  • VicodinVicodin Chicago
    edited June 2004
That sounds more dramatic than saying...

it'll cost $1.50 to ship a can of green beans.

    (cough)

I volunteer to send out one myself.

A picture of the received prize needs to be a requisite.

    This could be big, folks.

    Fold on.

Now that's an idea! Send some sort of food product that you can't easily get in other parts of the country/world. I remember some shortbread cookies that I had in GB that were really good (nudge, nudge :D).

I've already purchased a pineapple (of sorts) for a winner. It's ready to be sent out...

As long as it's not what is referred to as a Pineapple in the army that's cool...a hand-grenade would make for some quick es'planin' to the authorities...

This is a great Idea ! Now how and why will prizes be awarded ?

I Think...That Jon and Sally should receive the first prize for outstanding performance and team spirit. Sally is really cranking out the work units. She has had some serious computer troubles that may have overwhelmed a lot of us. But with team support and hard work she has them all cranking again. I know Austraila is a bit far to ship food but , Ithink they really deserve some special recognition. A tip of my hat to Jon And Sally !

    Just my 2 cents worth

Yes, why not every milestone = entry.
As for prizes, hit up some of us 'old timers', local food or interest items sounds fun.
I wonder if Sally would like a foam cheese head?

Does that mean "what is that about?" or "are you going to do this or what?". If it's the former, look at the posts before it. If it's the latter I surely can but someone should've said that because I was only kidding at the time.
