Several European countries are advancing the trend toward suing music file-sharers, but the UK's music association, the British Phonographic Industry, is not falling in line, in spite of new research data indicating that aggressive legal tactics do curb illegal downloading.
Specifically, according to the survey, seven out of ten people in France, the UK, Denmark and Germany said they were aware that file-sharing copyrighted music without permission was illegal, compared to 66 percent the previous year.

Meanwhile, according to separate news reports, the BPI is holding back from filing similar suits -- although that may be subject to change, especially as new cases press forward in Denmark and Germany.
