Plextor Shows Off 12X SATA DVD Burner

The PX-712SA supports 12X DVD+R and 8X DVD-R Writing; 4X DVD+RW and 4X DVD-RW Rewriting; and 16X max DVD-Reading. The DVD/CD burner also boasts high-speed 48X CD-R Writing, 24X CD-RW Rewriting, and 48X max CD-Reading.
“The PX-712SA extends Plextor’s family of award-winning dual-format DVD drives into the high-speed realm of 12X recording,” said Howard Wing, vice president of sales and
marketing for Plextor. “It offers the enhanced set of recording tools of our PlexWriter
Premium CD-R/RW drive family, including GigaRec, SecuRec, Q-Check, Silent Mode, and VariRec. PlexWriter Premium drive users who require user-controllable recording tools now can easily migrate to dual-format DVD recording with the new PX-712SA drive and PlexTools Professional software.”

    $240 is my guess.

    Bah! It helps if I click on the link to the left that says "price lists". I guess it was too obvious. It says $209 for MSRP. I think it is worth it barring any major bugs with the drive. Plextor carries an excellent name in the optical drive market.

    and S-ATA is just about the only place left to stick a drive in my system. that means i can finally get a DVD burner, yay!
