New Motherboard

A buddy of mine was messing around with his computer. He accidently moved the computer causing the power cord to comeout from the case. after a few second of sparks and cracking he let it sit for an hour or so then tried to power it and nothing would happen. He went out and bought a new power supply that didnt help. He next ordered a new motherboard and proceeded to reinstall windows xp. His bios would reconize his hard drive but while loading windows it would say something about his master boot record witht the drive and would not proceed an further. Could this be a possible that he needs a new bios. I tried the drive in another computer and it was able to reconize and format it.

Sorry to be so vague. I will try and get more information (brand,model, other errors etc..) from him tomorrow and update this. Im just trying to get a start.

    I would try testing all of the other parts in another computer to make sure they all work as well. Mainly the RAM.

    I had a similar thing with a new motherboard. It was because it was too much of a system change for windows to cope with. I was advised to reinstall windows and that fixed everything.
