O'Reilly Factor Coverage
I'm a big fan of The O'Reilly Factor, a news analysis program on the Fox News Channel. They have been covering Ronald Reagan's passing quite heavily and are beginning to move to covering the medical field and the strides made with combating the disease as well as prevention of the disease. With this in mind I drafted an email and sent it to the show. A segment of the show is dedicated to reading emails in response to his segments. Here's the email I sent to the show:
With the coverage of the passing of Ronald Reagan, much has been discussed on the O'Reilly Factor about Alzheimer's including Dr. Braverman on 6-14-04. I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight a project that is actively seeking a cure for Alzheimer's and other diseases such as Mad Cow Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and certain forms of cancer. The project is called "folding at home" and is a scientific research project through Stanford University. It uses a program to help analyze proteins and how they fold (good) and misfold (leads to many of the above listed diseases). They have enjoyed many published successes thus far. An in-depth explanation can be found here at:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/ , which is the main page for the folding at home project. I think a highlight of the project would be a great addition to your coverage of the disease and would be great positive closure. There is a great community for the project as many folding teams have formed including the team I'm a member of, Team Short-Media. Much friendly competition has evolved to see how many proteins can be analyzed through a points system. Our forums for discussing the folding at home project can be found at http://www.short-media.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13 .
Here's a great video explaining the project better than I can here: http://www.short-media.com/getdownload.php?d=137
Please take a few moments to research the project, I think it is quite worthwhile as do the approximately 200,000 other computer users that currently participate. If there are any questions about it, please feel free to contact me. Thanks, and keep up the good work, I love the show.

The reason for the post here is because the show receives thousands of emails a day. If more people sent in emails the chances of one of the emails getting recognized goes up. If anyone else felt like it, please drop them a line similar to what is above and send it in. Coverage on national tv would be great for the project and our team. The email address to send it to is:
oreilly@foxnews.com . If you do send one in, be sure to include your real name and town at the bottom of the email.
