new computer trouble with Party Poker not giving me enough time to act

edited June 2004 in Science & Tech
A friend and I just put a new computer together a few days ago, and ever since I have been having trouble playing @ Party Poker Online Poker. Normally the site gives me around 10 seconds before making an audible "ding ding" sound to prompt me to act soon. Then after that a countdown of 20 seconds begins. So I SHOULD be receiving 30 seconds to act.

Since I started using this new computer, it is fine on Party Poker for maybe 20 minutes or so after a restart of the client and/or of the computer itself, but then it gives me only 20 seconds to act. The longer I play, it starts to give me only 10 seconds to act on my hand instead of 30 seconds.

Also, as I continue to play, if I uncheck the "auto-post blind" box at the poker table, when it gets to my big blind, no button appears on the screen to prompt me to either sit out or post my big blind, so I am forced to time out.

I've emailed Party Poker and they have yet to solve the problem.

I don't know what to do.

I have an ABIT NF7 Series Motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 2700+ processor (2.16GHz) and 1 GB of DDR2100 RAM. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Assuming you're not overclocking, I'd say it's a bug with the software.

This sounds more like a software problem to me. Moving.

Just an FYI, many casino-style programs that are free to download contain spyware that could adversely affect the performance of your computer. I'd recommend running AdAware 6.0 and Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3 to check and see if this is the case :)

I seriously doubt that spyware is in the Party Poker download. I've got it on two computers with never a hint of malware from Party Poker. Nor have I had problems with their software. I assume you tried a new download.

Party Poker is spyware free. Poker Room is pretty bad, so is Pacific.

anyway, I'd say redownload and reinstall - isn't party poker a java client? maybe update your jvm? - and see if that solves your problem
