So's I have one of these on the SM bench at the moment and am comparing it to the FX53 940-pin processor. For all intents and purposes...if you don't get caught up in the "dragstrip" of benchmarks, meaning one processor beats the other by 3 FPS, then the two are pretty well the same averaged across the board.

What I have noticed is that A64 3800+ 939-pin seems to do better with the newer games and game engines than the older (Such as Serious Sam). Seems to be some optimisations there.

The ASUS SK8V Bios appears pretty deep for menus. Lots of things to fiddle with but that's only a first look.

The FX53 940-pin (And yes there is a 939-pin variant) has 1 MB L2 cache and the A64 3800+ has 512 KB. It remains to be seen how to literally expose where the larger cache will be of benefit except by evidence of a few FPS across the tests. There really isn't a benchmark that specifically targets the cache.

Anyway you look at it though...it's a zoom fast CPU. :) Reviewage due next week and I'll even stack it up against a duallie to show you just how far processor tech has come.

Do make sure the OS is correctly seeing the right amount of cache or its not gonna do squat anyway. I have to set it myself half the time on the CPU's I use much less ones that are just being released like what you have. X-setup or XP customizer etc.. will allow you to tweak that if you don't just do it manualy in the registry.

As far as a benchmark ? The increased cache should show in lots of things you shouldn't have to target the cache directly or what good would it really be anyway?
