Ever wondered in some detail how a keyboard actually worked, and how to use parts of it for other things, and what those other things could be, and how to tell what codes the keyboard actually sends (Ghostkeys 1.1 software can tell you that, author is John Dickson, and this software can be used to tell you what keymap value to change from what to what along with an ASCII symbol table (or other appropriate symbol table for your keyboard) and Digital<->Hex conversion table pair)??? Info comes from strange places, misleading as to title, this is chapter 8 of Extremetech's book about Building Your Own Arcade Machine that will come out in hard copy and\or virtual book form when finished, along with a CD of the software referenced to in the book....
It also talks about why keyboards can ghost, especially older ones, and the explanations also show how a defective keyboard controller or keyboard controller chip solder joint can not send some keys but send others fine. Ghosting and extra repeats can be a real bad issue pair with an old keyboard hooked to a new and fast computer....
