TechTV Fans Mad as Hell

Numerous complaints have been lodged against Comcast and the handling of the recent merger between G4 and TechTV.
Looking for a recipe for dissension? Comcast has it. Take two cable networks designed for technology enthusiasts with very different bents -- newbie G4 for young gamers and veteran TechTV for computer geeks of all ages -- and merge them. Fire the staff of TechTV, the network you bought, and be sure to drop the show that has some of the most fervent fans and a host with a cult following. For good measure, take the network's widely linked archives offline for weeks.
This is definitely a bad recipe and terrible PR for Comcast. -KF

    I watched G4TV about as much as I watched TechTV, both have like 2 good shows. Fresh Gear is nice, and so is TechLive, and screensavers is a good time killer if you want, but G4TV.com was good with that hot chick for a host, and I can't remember the other shows, like cimematech. Yeah. ;)

    Anyways, yeah, I think me and my friends like it better now in HOPE that they get rid of the bull**** programs ;)

    Well, it's pretty good for me, since I've got DirecTV. I used to watch both on Comcast before we switched, and until now, I've just missed out on G4.

    Pfff I saw G4 a couple times, sucked anyway. I used to watch TechTV a bunch, but honestly, both are channels for computer newbs anyway, some of it was entertaining but I certainly wouldn't call TechTV a channel for "seasoned veterans of technology" and anybody who's part of the "cult following" of (whom I'm assuming they're referring to) Leo Laporte, well they just lead a sad, sad exisitence anyway

    Leo Laport is getting a similar gig to call for help in canada so i doubt we'll be seeing much of the leffty tech guy, btw he is extremly smart i wish hed stick around i dont kno if kall to kanada will be on G4 or not

    i just checked his website there will be a call for help 2.0 this summer

    I liked TechTV quite a bit. I thought they had the right mix of shows that appealed to both new people and those familiar with the scene. I'm not familiar with G4 but I'd say firing the entire staff of TechTV and taking off the archives is definitely bad PR for good reason. I like Leo Laporte and hate to see him depart. Dunno about the cult following thing. I think that the way G4 is gutting TechTV it only leaves an opening for a new show to rise up with TechTV's formula and upend G4.

    Meh. We don't get either in Oklahoma. I've watched TechTV while I've been in Dallas before, but I think I'd opt to just read Short-Media instead, if given the choice.

    I thought the "cult following" host they were reffering to was Morgan Webb.

    Anyhow, since TechTV is going down the tubes, I suppose I have no real push to get digital cable anymore (that's the only way you can get it in my area). Their loss.

    Morgan Webb, geez I hope not. Sarah Lane, oh yes. She's major babeage. I didn't see TechTV as going down the tubes. I thought they were quite refined. I regularly recorded them on Tivo.

    I dunno. Morgan just has something about her... can't describe it.

    They'd both be my heroes if they'd make out on screen once in a while...

    I thought Morgan was rather ugly, despite her.. "Huge tracts of land" to which most guys seem slovenly dedicated.

    i agree on the olsen twins though. their faces look way too big for their body. they look like those freak looking people from that fantasy flock, i think it was labyrinth, can't remember the name.
