update* i just noticed.. like before i ran ad-aware and did all that stuff.. when i disabled
"loadbalmlite" it would just come back again.. but now.. when i disable it, it doesnt come back... i still want to get rid of the loadbalmlite option though.. any ideas?
    and hows the log look?
  • edited June 2004
First, move HijackThis to it's own folder such as C:\HijackThis or C:\HJT. That way when you run it, HJT will make it's backup files in it's own folder and doesn't scatter them all over your desktop and it gives you a way to restore deleted stuff if you accidently delete a needed process. Then, go and download Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3 and update it to the latest definitions and run it and let it delete what it can delete. After both Ad Aware and Spybot have been run, then post a new HJT log up. The reason we ask you to run both Ad Aware and Spybot is that each will miss some things but running both will clean most of the crap out.

OK, boot up in safe mode and with system restore turned off, then delete the following:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://mysearchnow.com/passthrough/...//my.yahoo.com/
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Libraries Update] winapis32rnd.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime Not needed, resource water
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [book send] C:\PROGRA~1\Default Hold Hide\Delete Web Proc.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Libraries Update] winapis32rnd.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Libraries Update] winapis32rnd.exe

    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE Not needed

Also, delete the following folder: C:\PROGRAM FILES\CAKEFI--- the first 6 letters of the file are that in program files.

Also, does your keyboard or mouse have programmable hotkeys? If not, then I would say to delete this line, I couldn't find a definitive answer on what it is:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CHotkey] zHotkey.exe

Let us know how your machine's acting after deleting these and post a new HJT log up after deleting those lines and folders. BTW, the best way to post a log is to save the HJT file as a log, then copy and past the logfile up. That way we'll see all the processes running. :)

i think my computer has hotkeys. it has a bunch of quick buttons like mute internet email cut copy past sleep calculator etc etc.
