Does anybody know how to remove PurityScan and CAX Proxy? Do I need to run Hijack This? If I do tell me and I will post a log?

PurityScan can be removed by Spybot S&D 1.3, run in safe mode after updating. If this is a 2000 box or an XP box, log in as Admin to run it, let it run at restart if needed, and again login to Admin in safe mode when computer restarts. XP and 2000 can be forced into safe mode by pressing F8 very early in widnows boot cycle, and choosing safe mode (not safe mode with networking if that is an option). I do not know if it does CAX Proxy also. SpyBot S&D works much better when run in safe mode. Also, some of these bot and trojan things can trigger system restore to restore themselves by registry keys they put into system at infect time, so kill with system restore service disabled, ok??? IF you later want it back on, can re-enable it in normal mode as admin, or in safe mode as admin, after killing things. I rarely have system restore on, only when installing things I am not sure of is it on, and the SP2 RC2 install also wanted it on and I did uninstall that from its restore point due some eseroteric\oddball\strange issues I had with that package.

NOTE, there ARE June 2004 def updates for SpyBot S&D 1.3 and AdAware available.

I would also kill tracking cookies you do not know you need with AdAware 6.0 build 181 with updates before running, in safe mode as to running, with admin login if that is an option. AND run SpyBot in advanced mode.

When done killing, also run HJT and post a log right in this thread, ok???

Could an admin or mod append"- TRU_AZN" to thread title, please???
