Yahoo Blocks Trillian

edited June 2004 in Science & Tech
Yahoo on Wednesday began blocking Cerulean Studios' Trillian software from communicating with its instant messaging service in its latest step to fence its popular client from third-party integrators.
Beginning at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Yahoo changed its instant messaging language to prevent third-party services, such as Trillian, from accessing its service. Like previous statements, the company said the block is meant as a pre-emptive measure against spammers from its Yahoo Messenger service.

Probably so Q but according to the article Yahoo will plug all the attempts of workarounds by Trillian.

grrr.... I love my trillian. I would even pay a few dollars extra to get Trillian to pay for the code from Yahoo.

I hate having icons in the system tray. I have 5 icons. Antivirus, Firewall, Speaker, Trillian, and outlook.... that's it.

I havent been able to connect to it in a LONG TIME. First with 1.0 and now with 2.0 it says my password is incorrect. But even if I go to check me email from trillian it will log me in to my email so I know its right.

    !!! THIS JUST IN !!!

Trillian Pro has already hacked a fix!!!! (hmmmm less than 24 hrs to fix the issue.)

The "incorrect password" is the error you will get if you don't patch Trillian with the new version. Trillian has it up on their website. I'm at 2.013 now.

Only 5 icons in your system tray? I use trayit and have nearly 30 icons in my system tray. I perfer them in the system tray than in the start bar thing.

I use gaim but I don't bother loggin onto yahoo. No one I know uses it really and it doesn't have any superb features that i've found.
