Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam trouble

edited June 2004 in Gaming
Everytime I try to open the .exe files I get an error message saying "Please log in with adminstrator privileges." It doesn't look like a standard Windows error message. Any ideas? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to help. I'm on a computer administrator account too so I have no idea what the problem is. Thanks.

What version of windows are you using? XP or 2000? Try using another administrator account or set up a new one and then trying to launch the game.

I use XP and I have already tried setting up new user accounts and on those I still get the error message.

FWIW I checked my icon properties. I don't know if this is an issue but have a look-->

PS BTW "cheats" is only to get rid of the intro movie, so no-one freak out... :eek2:

Ok that helped, I made a little progress by clicking on that box but now I'm prompted with a new box that says that it 'can't create a file when that file already exists' in the temp directory. This is so bizarre.

    Cool. Never thought of that.

Cam- Try emptying your temp folder...But I can't find a temp folder in my BF1942 file, so I am not sure which temp folder?? then, if that doesn't work-->un-re-installing is a major pain in the heinie, but sometimes short-term pain is long--term fragging online. If I can't fix a gaming issue in the time it takes to ponder a Jack Handey Deep Thought, out comes the install disk.
