Hijack This log help?

Recently my browser was hijacked and various ant-spyware programs work until reboot and then it's back, including popups.

The worst part is it will no longer allow me to install the same Windows critical service pack that is supposed to help prevent this.

Anyway, someone recoomended the Hijack This program and I've run it, but have no idea what to do with the log information.

Can anyone help?

Thanks !! TC

First, try CWShredder. You can download it from here => http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Make sure it is updated to latest version.

Run CWShredder in normal mode. Reboot in safe mode and run CWShredder again.

While still in safe mode, run HJT and "fix" these entries if they still exist:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about_:blank
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2980A1BB-1B7F-48DA-9049-906A175B763E} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cgokd.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysUpd] C:\WINDOWS\sysupd.exe

Then, while still in safe mode, delete these files if they exist:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\cgokd.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\sysupd.exe

Run CWShredder one more time in safe mode.

    Reboot normal.

    Run adaware, spybot, and CWShredder.

Post a new HJT log and hopefully the problem will be solved.

OK, did everything like you said. Additionally, while doing this I got a trojan warning from my Norton for a file Windows/mdm.dll that I quarantined. Haven't soent any time on the system yet to say if everything is fixed, but in the meantime here's my new HJT log after doing what you suggested.

    Thanks, TC
