URGENT Help with networking needed!

I need a quick guide or a reference for how to set up a simple home network. It needs to be detailed and it's super urgent! thanks.

    Give us a brief description of what you hope to accomplish with your home network and tell us how you connect to the Internet.

    Microsoft has a page giving a brief rundown on the basics. Once we know exactly what you want to do we can advise you better. :)

    I need to set up a small network for simple file sharing, nothing fancy, but I've had so many damn problems so I need a very detailed reference. If you know of anything that would be great, thanks.

    What kinds of problems? I was entirely new to networking, and very nervous when I first set up ours. But basically all I had to do was plug them in and power up the router, and learn the ins and outs of the port forwarding and such. Then again I did have all Windows XP boxes ...

    CamHot - what operating system(s) are your computers running? How do you connect to the internet? Do you use a router, a hub, a switch, or some combination of two or more?

    Simple file sharing is... simple! :)

    Give us the above info and I promise that my next post will include more answers than questions. :p

    What OSes ... and what problems were you having exactly? Just not being able to see each other, sharing the internet, sharing files .... ?
