Actually...if you go and configure a relatively decent computer with them...they turn out to be like the typical computer seller. Overpriced ;) Not too high, but you're still FAR better off building your own :)

I was looking for help on a comp problem and saw this post ...

I ordered my current computer from cyber power inc in april 2003. I opted for them over standard dell and gateway because of the increase opitions. I did read reviews that a lot of people were very unhappy with their customer service. I never delt with anyone, ordered online and was fortunate enough to be able to solve the unconnected cdrom by myself.

When I got my comp my CD rom drive wasn't plugged in (they must have just forgot) but everything else was connected and ready. My floppy drive may be starting to crap out but otherwise I hadn't had any problems with it.

Building your own would probably be better, but i'm not sure how much cheaper due to shipping costs and such. I personally and not that comfortable in hardware to have built my comp then and really didn't have time to mess with it.

in Short, a chunk of people have had problems with customer service. I'm happy with my computer though and it turned out fine. Much much happier than if i had ordered from dell or gate (cheaper and more what i wanted).

If you have time and know how to build your own, that's probably better though *shrugs*.

I built a mid-level gaming rig for around $800-$900. I've since upgraded ~60% of the components, so obviously my system costs much more now.

Their default video card is a GF2-MX400 .... that's pretty funny. They must have found them in a dumpster or something, those things have been out of production for sooooo long. (Like 2 years at least).

well, i wouldent build a custom one on there site, i was looking at the value 2000 xp...thn upgradeing a few little things.

the thing is, i need to have EVERY thing to get a computer working (moitor and OS and shipping/taxes) for 800-900, and if im lucky 1000.

i have never build a comp before, but have worked on them (adding memory, adding a hard drive, switching out a hard drive...etc) so i think i could build one, but that site has the value 2000 xp witch comes with everything(windows xp, 19 in monitor are included) for only like 770. but i would upgrade to a nforce 400 chipset mobo, and a 9600se video card.
comes out to like 800, and 905 with shipping...not bad!

im kinda new to this computer thing, and dont really know what works good with what, so if sombody has some extra time on there hands, i would be ever so pleased if you could list componets for a new system thats under...lets say 1000. i mean EVERYTHING including all cables...lets just say i have nothing, and i need a working computer. ill be using it for surfing the web, playing a few games...nothing crazy or comptitive, and lots of music, of
    course.
o ya!...almost forgot, i think ill go with amd, just sence they are much cheaper, and it will save the money for other things.

    thanks in advance... :buck:
