Home Search Assistant has got my brain fried![solved]

Hello! to whomever can help me out...

"Home Search Assistant" and "Search Assistant" and "Shopping Wizard" is on my computer and I have tried everything to get it off. Since i have gotten these problems, I have downloaded: Adaware, S&D. and in the case of virsues, I downloaded Avast!.

Another problem I have is whenever I open a new window in IE, Avast detects a virus. This happens everytime.

    Reboot in safe mode

    Run HJT and fix these entries:

    When I rebooted ans started up IE, virus alert still came up. And when I opened a new window after closing the first one, the home search assistant still came up, poppin ads everywhere.... Thanks for replying though.. any more suggestions??

    I'm suspicious of this one:

    I would go into C:\WINDOWS\ and rename that file to netva32.exe.old if you can, and reboot and see if anything's broken. If nothing seems broken, leave it renamed to that. If you can't rename it you might have to boot into safe mode to rename it.

    Sounds like a reloader. Try this:

    Make sure you can view hidden and system files: Instructions here => http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html.

    Then, look for a "new" file in the C:\WINDOWS and C:\WINDOWS\system32 folders. Open the Windows (and then System32) folder and using the “Views” option in the toolbar, click “Details.” Then click “Modified” at the top of the listing so the most recent is at top. See is any of the applications were modified within the past week or so (or when you began having problems) and have odd names. Right click any applications that were recently modified and check the "properties."

    Using this process, you may find an application that is restarting the hijack process. As you can see, the hijacker changes names after the old hijacker is destroyed.

    Thanks Vanagon and primesuspect! The file netva32 seemed to be the problem, and I was sure of it when i looked at its properties. Deleted it and its all good now. Hope it stays like this!
