I have an Asus 9800pro 256 w/ tivo. It came bundled with some crappy asus digital vcr program. i hate it, and need an alternative piece of software that can do the same thing, but that doesnt constantly crash. im really beggining to hate asus :D

I use Digital VCR everyday and it never crashes with me :wtf:

Have you checked the ASUS for the latest version? Grabbed the newest multimedia drivers for your ATI card??

    :)

im using the latest version asus has listedo nthe site .. 2.5, but after i get it and do an about, it says 2.3.

the program works good, i tweaked a few things, working better now. i had an issue with my sound vibrating, but i digitized my input :P that fixed it. i can still make it crash if i move the screen around a whole lot in a small amount of time though. maybe i should just watch tv and not do other things at the same time, that would fix it.

I dont have a memory issue. My computer doesn't crash, the program only does, I can simpy kill the process and start it over. I was just curious what kind of alternative third party software there was so I could check it out. Here is my system specs:

    Enermax 460w

    What does digital VCR do?

I might be able to make a few suggestions if it does what I think the name implies.

Takes an S-Video or composite signal from a video source through the ATI Rage Theater chip embedded in certain ATI video cards :)

When you mentioned that it happened while multitasking I thought maybe it was merely a case of trying to do too much with too little.

After seeing your system specs I agree that that is not the problem. :)

well thrax, it pretty much lets you watch or record video and sound signal.

for example, i have my vcr and my cable box converting into an svideo connection, and their sound goes to the line in on my sound card (nforce audio).

so the software lets me record or watch this signal, then compress it with divx or any other codec i have if i record it.
