Aaahhh, My Seagate Scsi Drive Just Died.

I was just flashing the bios on my K8V, rebooted & now the my scsi drive wont spin up. The host card (lsi) detects the drive but it wont spin up & hence no boot.

Luckily the drive is covered under warranty till 2008 so I've got an rma number but is it just coincidence that it happened when I flashed the m/b bios or has anyone got any conspiracy theories.

I would have to lean toward coincidence myself, Jimbo. I don't see how a bios flash to the mobo could affect the firmware or pcb components of a hard drive.

A couple of weeks ago I had a psu blow out spectacularly about 5-10 minutes after removing the case sides off of my watercooled rig and was waiting for it to finish a frame before shutting down. Weird conincidence there too.

I all reality it has to be coincidence but its just plain odd. that it should happen at that exact moment considering I had rebooted that rig a number of time this morning while playing with the bios settings. I'm certain I didn't change anything in the scsi card bios/settings.

Oh well no gaming for a while then. :(
