Damn nice price.

Check out all the boards, a lot are $20-30. Opteron boards for $50. Time to add to the farm.

Damn, mistyped the thread title. (Fixed)

you got me tempted. have you ever bought refurbished before? what's wrong with the boards, a busted cap that they fixed, or something major like an ide header?

Newegg never checks any returned boards when they get RMA'd to them. They just resell them as refurbs. Typically, the problem with the board is that the original owner was a nincompoop and didn't know how to build a PC, so they couldn't get it to boot. Sometimes, something is actually wrong with the board and you have to RMA the refurb board. They're really good about it, the only problem is that you have to pay more to ship it back to them.

I ordered a few Asus boards from Newegg refurb before and they were bare boards, but the NF7-S that I got from them turned out to have all the stuff with it. It's a crap shoot, really.

Never got anything from them myself but I have heard like GHoosdum said sometimes all you get is the board, sometimes you get a brand new box.

I've bought all 3 of my dually boards as refurbs from Newegg, along with a couple of single proc boards and have had no bad boards delivered. Some came as a bare board and some came with all the goodies; that part is just a crapshoot. The only refurb I bought from them that isn't still working is the Epox 8KHA+ that died the bad capacitor death a few months ago, but that is generally a universal problem with those boards and not because it was a refurb.

I think the barebones boards must be boards that Newegg has actually RMA'ed to the manufacturer and have received back though. The ones with everything included must be boards that someone else has RMA'ed, IMO.

I have two NF7 boards I got just over 3 months ago that I never put to use (lots of personal & professional stuff happened in my life and is on-going) so I probably won't get around to using them for quite a while. No idea if the boards are good or not, but I had purchased a refurb board (NF7 also) a month or two prior and it works fine. Folding away @ 2.3GHz. Gotta love the refurbs!

Brand-new ones are now $82. Even if you got a dud and had to RMA it you'd come out way ahead, even with the postage. :)
