Try clearing the BIOS using the jumper on the MB.

What exactly do you see when you turn on the computer? (And in what order?) :)

looked in bios dont know if set up right

1st on primary master 2nd on secondary master
it tries detecting devices ,they r not found but recognised in bios

Check your IDE cable. You might always want to try setting the errant drive to "Cable Select".

If possible, try the drive in another computer, too. :)

Is it at all possible to try a different mobo? Or a different drive? Or either, in another computer? If it tells you there's no bios with different drives, or in other computers, yours could be what we like to call a paperweight. See if you can't rma that board.

What BIOS version are you running? If there is a newer one, go for it. It sounds like it's the RAID BIOS not being found.

To which connector are you attaching each drive?

There will be a program to do the flashing (Afudos), and the BIOS file to flash to. Copy them both to a bootable floppy disk. Boot from the floppy and when it asks you what file you want to use point it to the bios file (probably ends in ".bin") and let her rip. :)

    ASUS download page is here.

Not unless you transfer the system files to it.

    1) Open Windows Explorer
    2) With a blank disk in the Floppy Drive, right-click on A:\ and left-click on "Format".
    3) Make sure you check the box I marked in red (see pic)
    4) Copy "Afudos" and the BIOS file (make sure you extract it first) to the bootable floppy you made
    5) Boot from the disk and run "Afudos" from the command prompt

Make sure the Floppy Drive is set first in the boot order in the BIOS.

I have an Adaptec 2940 SCSI PCI card and just have cdroms and a scanner hooked to it. I get the bios isn't installed because there are no HDD or it doesn't boot from SCSI,one of those. It has been a long time since I had to know. Just know it is normal if you have SCSI.

I'm guessing that this happens when you try to backup the old bios. Make sure the floppy disk is not write-protected (the little sliding tab on the disk should cover the hole) and save the old bios with a simple name like A:\oldbios

Hope you don't need the shotgun... :sawed:
