Mount D:/ to Program Files Folder, Access is Denied

edited July 2004 in Science & Tech
I recently had to reformat and reinstall Windows XP on my C partition. I was able to leave the remaining partitions as they were. Here is where the problem arises, I am attempting to mount my D partition to C:/Program Files/ but everytime I try to do so I get the same error message (yes, I did remove the assigned letter and make sure that D is void of all files via safe mode):

The Operation did not complete because access is denied. Check your access permissions.

Now I am curious to know whether my keeping the partitions D through H from the old Windows XP installation would have anything to do with that. I am also not too sure if the fact that C is considered the Primary partition, but D through H are all together on one Extended Partition would cause issues. If that is the problem, how do I go about fixing it? With that said here is a link to a jpeg of what disk manager looks like. You might need your reading glasses. I am sorry for the quality, but it is the best I can do with my comp out of commission.

Please someone respond soon. And thanks in advance!

You can only mount that partition in an empty folder, as a quick work around try mounting it in a new folder then renaming the folder to program files and seeing if it will merge the two (it's a quick and dirty work around, have the new folder be in a different folder than program files to begin with then move it there after it's renamed) as always make sure you have a current drive image type of backup just in case things go awry.
    Good luck.

I actually solved the problem before I heard back from anyone, but thanks for the quick response anyhow. I found a little program called "Junction Link Magic" and was able to use that to do it in a matter of seconds. The only bad part is instead of opening my D drive and automatically being at my Program Files folder is I had to rig it so that there is actually a file within D: that contains the Programs Files. In other words it Looks like this. D:/Program Files/ <--That is the folder that was mounted into C:/Program Files/. It works for what I need! Thanks...

and here is the link to the little tool I found, in case anyone reads this and needs it in the future:
