Tinker Storm Again!
My machine have been getting a whole bunch of Tinkers today, the big 230-245 point suckers. Those do great on my AMD rigs, which fold them like a mofo but the P4's have been getting them too, which sucks. I lose around 30% efficiency when a P4 gets a Tinker. Earlier today I was able to shift 3 big Tinkers from my P4 rigs and run the Gro work that was on the AMD machines on the P4, but now all my AMD machines are chock full of those big Tinkers and I still have a Tinker on a P4 client.
How about everyone else, have you all been getting a bunch of Tinkers today? :smiles:

you've got PM.
EDIT: Maybe not faster, but they yeild more PPW than normal gro WU's.

What I do is to shut down both the clients I want to swap, then map the drive from 1 machine to the other in explorer. Then, I have a folder I call "folding stash" I've made on all my rigs and I copy the whole folder of the clients of the wu's I want to change to the other machine. Then, I delete all the original stuff in the work folder, as well as the unitinfo.txt, the queue.dat and fahlog.txt files from the original folder and copy the work folder contents from folding stash, as well as the unitinfo.txt, queue.dat and fahlog.txt files into my working folder. Finally, I start the client back up and check to make sure that I did the tranfer ok. If i did the transfer ok, then I go ahead and delete the folder out of my "folding stash" folder. I never delete the transferred folders out of the "folding stash" folder until I am sure that I did the transfer ok, so if I screw up I don't lose the wu.
It took me a little figuring to come up with this solution to be able to swap work between different machines, but it works well and pays off when the P4's draw Tinkers and I have Gro on an AMD. When I first started doing this, I went at it slow, but now it only takes a couple of minutes to swap work between different machines.
/me looks for shorty in the short media coding dungeon
