cat 4.7 problems

I just installed the newewst cat 4.7's yesterday, and i have been having the worst experience with them ....that's what i get for going away from my perfectly functioning 4.5's. :banghead:
Anyway, i used the cat uninstaller first, and did the whole install process correctly, but anytime i change the 3d settings in the advanced tab (like AA and AF) and hit apply or ok, my screen goes black and just stays black....like a lost signal or something. My only course of action is to restart. After a restart, everything works fine and the new settings are applied, but this shouldn't be happening. This was yesterday...
After having my pc on all night ... i went to use it today and things were screwy. Like if i moved whatever window i had open, i would get trails from that window. Eventually the whole screen was filled with window trails, and i had to do a hard-restart. After the restart, it seemed fine...posted, and i could see all BIOS messages. But then after the loading windows graphic, it would act like it was going into windows, and i could hear the welcome to windows chime, but it would lose it's signal to the monitor and i would be stuck with a black screen.
I seemed to have fixed this problem by physically un-installing my 9800pro and re-installing it. Now I am afraid to restart though, and i can't mess around with AA or AF.
I don't have any problems playing games...no crashing, but things seem a lot less smooth with the 4.7s. I know about this new temporal AA/AF thing, but it seems to be pretty crappy right now. I can't even find an option for diasbling it. Anybody have any suggestions?

Just goto add and remove programs. run the uninstaller there. This just removes it from the system the drivers are however still on your hdd.
Reboot. Windows will add the card back in most likely automatically. Let it.
Download the driver file again from ATI's website and rerun it. Dont install the media drivers. Just the video drivers and the control panel.
reboot and test...

I tried exactly what you said, but i still have the problem of a "lost signal" anytime i try to change AA and AF. It doesn't matter what setting I try, anytime i change either the slider or enter a custimized value (like 4XAA and 8XAF) and hit apply/ok...............black screen and the monitor goes into stanby mode, i.e. "lost signal"...
I guess i will revert back to my old cat 4.5s....or maybe i'll try the 4.6s???
Maybe this is a directX problem? do the 4.7s require sp2 and directX 9.0c or something?
