Some ATTO scores..
Picked up a set of five Maxtor Atlas 10KIV drives
Very nice drives, quiet and very quick. I have to pick up some more SCA2 to 68pin adapters, to use all five drives, but I benched them as single drives just to do some testing.
The first image is a single Atlas 10K IV on a plain ol' Adaptec 19160.
The second image is one of my older Atlas 10K II drives. Still not too shabby for a 5 year old drive.

I believe the cost worked out to about $65 per drive hard to beat that.
I actually own a pair of 36gb raptors as well (in my primary PC). I only got attos of around 55000 on the top end for each of those drives. Close to 25% better reads, and 15% better writes than the raptors. Quieter drives too actually.
