what to get?
When my socket 754 board comes back I am selling it along with my A64 cpu and going back to socket A for now. reason being
#1 Not worth the problems
#2 To much money ( and i need the cash )
#3 will go socket 939 beginning of next year
Now i need to get a socket A board with 1000 gigabit LAN connection on it for my network.
I was thinking a Abit AN7 with a barton 2500+ anyone have any other ideas? wanna stay pretty cheap.

Despite that, the AN7 is crap. It's gigabite connection is..not..worth the absolute misery that is that abomination of Abit engineering.
I would expect a piece of **** like the AN7 to come from Gigabyte, or an off-brand company for $40.. But no, Abit managed to make it. And they made it complete with a lack of overclocking ability, a slew of BIOS problems, boot errors, and OS load errors.
The NF7-S remains to be the premiere choice.
If you need gigabit, buy a gigabit card. However, if you want to stay "Cheap," I don't see how you're going to do it when you need to retrofit your entire LAN for gigabit equipment. Router/switch, cards...
Do you really push that much data around on your LAN?
But otherwise, I hope this post helps in guiding your decision.
definitely mobile xp baton
So the NF7-S 2.0 is a great board i owned 2. Ill go with that

As for the suggestions of the mobile XP, here's why.
It's multiplier unlocked. AMD CAN'T lock them because they need to be unlocked to adjust their clockspeed on the fly for their mobile PowerNow technology.
It's also one of the best overclocking Athlons around. 2.4GHz with a 220MHz FSB, provided you have good RAM, really won't be a problem with the NF7 and the Athlon-M.
