internet explorer keeps freezing

My IE keeps freezing up while i am surfing or if i let it sit for a little bit. The boxes keep remaining on the screen and i can't close down the sites. I have to restart my computer. Does anyone have any ideas of what is wrong or what i can do to fix it? I ran spybot, and adware and norton anti virus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    try testing your memory.

    download this. unzip it, and run "install.bat".. It will make a bootable floppy. Boot off that floppy and let it run all seven tests. If all tests pass with zero errors, then we'll try to figure out what else could be wrong.

    Just so you know, memtest can take up to an hour, even two on an old machine.
