How to get wmp to open in seperate window?

Does anyone know how to get Windows Media Player to open in a seperate window when clicking a link in IE?

I have 2 machines. on 1 when a media link is clicked wmp launches in a seperate window. On the other the media is played by wmp within the ie window. I know the first time a media link is clicked IE asks the user how they want that media played. But how do you manually set that option?

I have tried setting IE back to default under tools-internet options-and programs tab. No go.

This is on IE 6.0.whateva and WMP 6.4.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.
