Hi All,

Maybe someone can help. My wife calls me at work and says that these window started popping up asking her to "delete this and that trojan by downloading a program". I ran Spybot, Ad-aware and it seemed to get rid of the popup dialog boxes, but now Window Media Player won't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I also found several programs on my HD that weren't there before- addestroyer, and two others that weren't removed by my scans, but were in my Task manager.

Here is my HJT log:

You may just have to reinstall WMP:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/gettingstarted/download/download.asp

As for your HJT log it looks pretty clean, I think the AdAware / Spybot combo got most of it. However, you may FIX the following:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

    O2 - BHO: NavErrRedir Class - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL (file missing)

(I usually recommend getting rid of Incredimail, as it has some tracking features that many consider spyware.)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {83DE62E0-5805-11D8-9B25-00E04C60FAF2} - C:\WINDOWS\2_0_1browserhelper2.dll (file missing)

    (Missing file = toast it.)

    O4 - Startup: Registration Far Cry.LNK = C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Register\RegistrationReminder.exe

(Just a registration reminder, get rid of it.)

    O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.exe.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe

(Unless you do a lot of work in Photoshop, this is usually not necessary.)

Looks good now. You may want to clean out your 016 DPF's at some point, as anything you truly need will get re-downloaded on demand when you need it.

Is Media Player working for you now?

Yeah- it all of the sudden came back after I started renaming programs in the Media player folder...Kinda scary, as I hate the fact that a random change fixed it. To me that means I got lucky this time! The virus I got must have changed a name...buggers.

I will clean them out ASAP- thanks, I appreciate the help.
