IE 6 odd behavior after installing anti-spyware software...

Hi,

Thanks to the amazing folks here at ShortMedia, I was able to remove some serious garbage from my WinMe system. However, after installing and running several great programs (see below) I'm come across a problem with IE 6.0 and I'm not sure if it's a result of the programs I installed and ran - some of which may have changed my browser/security settings - or if my browser is simply corrupt.

The problem I'm having is that I'm unable to manually sort my IE favorites. Normally, I keep my most-used favorites on the ""Links" toolbar. When I want to bookmark a website, I just drag it from the address bar to the Links toolbar. Then, later, I rearrange them by drag and drop, so that my most visited sites are the first ones shown. I discovered recently that while I can still do this, when I open a new browser window, the new sort order is not kept, and it has reverted back to the old order. I've tried resetting my browser settings to the default, I've tried booting up with a minimal configuration with no anti-spyware software running, etc., I've run Norton Utilities, etc., but nothing has worked. Again, I'm not sure if this is related to the programs I recently installed, but it's a possibility...

The programs I've run/installed are:

ZoneAlarm Pro
AdAware 6.0
Ad-Watch
Spyware Blaster
Spyware Guard
AdSubtract
Spybot S&D

Your help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Kind regards,

John

You might want to try a different browser. I know this is not a "fix" but I recommend that all IE users switch to Firefox anyways... Give it a shot, you might like it. You won't have a spyware problem, at any rate, and it has integrated popup blocking, plus an excellent bookmark sort tool.
