Far Cry 64 and Win 64
First of all, i have an Athlon 64 but have yet to take advantage of any of the 64 bit aspects of it.
I got this game called Far Cry a few months ago and its one of the most amazing games i've ever played. Then i find out that they're actually developing a 64 bit patch for the game that will let you play it on Athlon 64's with a much higher framerate etc but i haven't seen anything about needing Windows XP 64 in order to take advantage of it.
My question is this; Is it possible that a game could run in 64 bit via the code of the game itself without needing to upgrade to windows 64 or is that totally impossible?
Also, it would seem strange that they're developing this patch/version without any real windows 64 support. I mean are there even any Catalyst drivers yet for Windows 64? If not how would you ever be expected to run a 3D game in 64 bit if the 64 bit OS is required?
