    It's a new version?
Microsoft only releases versions when lots of bugs are fixed?
Do it because I said so?
It's a good idea to have the newest version of things?

    Pick and choose!

Me either, but it seems to work fine on this end. XP SP1.

I did some testing before and after. All i will say is, make a restore point before installing this. I had lots of 3d problems after installing 9.1c. 3dmark 03 couldn't even pass Wings of fury. My advice would be, only install this on a fresh os install, before video and sounddrivers and before games and 3d apps.

No problems to date. I just installed right over 9.0b on an old copy of XP.

    FYI for anyone interested.

I just loaded the end user web download DX9C (7.9Mb) and after downloading, but before installing it seemed to just hang. No CPU usage or nothing. I killed it in taskmanager and it said must reboot. I said no and reran the installer. This time it went straight to installing DX. Went in fine rebooted. Ran Aquamark3 - up 1000. Ran 3DMark03 - up 300. Tried AC2 and COH. All run fine with no obvious issues for a few minutes play. AC2 does use pixel shading, but I think it's 2 though.

I have everything set to high AA and AF all on. (256MB 9800 Pro, 3.2Ghz PressHOT, 1GB Corsair)

The install hang was probably because 3 versions of XP SP2 have been installed and uninstalled on this disk so I wouldn't worry about that.

Looks good to me. Just a little info.
