Help with the bestfriends.scr please

Hi - it looks like I've obtained the bestfriends.scr virus that does not allow your task manager or "regedit" to run correctly. The only detail that I am not sure about is that I did not download anything - I simply clicked the link, and I'm wondering if maybe I have something different and that is why I'm unable to locate it using the methods already posted here. I have run the Hijackthis on my computer though, and was wondering if someone would be able to look through it for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

My good friend Mr. Google says that this guy:

    O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [AOL Instent Messenger] YQDBDMRM.EXE

is a random file name. I would start there. Reboot in SAFE MODE, kill the entry, and follow the other steps in the removal guide.

You also need to get rid of a few other items....in SAFE MODE.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinFavorites] c:\program files\winfavorites\WinFavorites.exe1

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SafeSurfingUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\System32\SSUpdate.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wcmdmgr] C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KAZAA] C:\Program Files\Kazaa\Kazaa.exe /SYSTRAY

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [updmgr] C:\Program Files\Common files\updmgr\updmgr.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AltnetPointsManager] C:\Program Files\Altnet\Points Manager\Points Manager.exe -s

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Sinsup] odjiwjf.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [] c:\WINDOWS\System32\

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AIM] C:\PROGRA~1\AIM\aim.exe -cnetwait.odl

    O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [AOL Instent Messenger] YQDBDMRM.EXE

    O4 - Global Startup: GStartup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\GMT.exe

    O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (HKCU)

Those are all related to adware / spyware of some type. Kazaa is optional, it has required spyware components that will make the program stop functioning if you remove them. I recommend you either buy the Gold version of Kazaa, or download Kazaa Lite, both of which stop the Adware.

Reboot normally, check things out, and post a fresh log for review.

    Dexter,

I was just looking at this log when you posted a response. What about these two:
    R3 - URLSearchHook: PerfectNavBHO Class - {00D6A7E7-4A97-456f-848A-3B75BF7554D7} - C:\PROGRA~1\PERFEC~1\BHO\PERFEC~1.DLL

    O2 - BHO: NavErrRedir Class - {00D6A7E7-4A97-456f-848A-3B75BF7554D7} - C:\PROGRA~1\PERFEC~1\BHO\PERFEC~1.DLL

I don't know what they are, but my Google search finds them only in problem logs and the other "experts" advise to delete (without comment or explanation).

EDIT: More research: Computer Cops sez it is an Incredifind Variant (not good) => http://computercops.biz/clsid-59.html

    I'd delete these also.

    2nd EDIT--ONE MORE SUGGESTION:

Move HJT out of the temporary directory and into its own folder (e.g. C:\HJT). HJT makes backups that can be used to restore necessary files that are inadvertently deleted. These backups will easily be lost or destroyed in the temporary folder.

Yep, the Incredimail stuff should go too, I meant to put that in there, must have missed it in my copy and paste. I also missed that HJT was in a temp directory. Thanks Vanagon.

That's what is great about this site, the regulars here watch each others' backs :)
