Which P4M processor?

Intel Pentium mobile 1.5GHz 1MB cache
or
Intel Pentium mobile 715(1.5GHz and 2MB cache, Dothan).

I remember someone bitching about the new Intel chips, but don't remember if that applied to the mobile chips as well, or if it was just the desktop ones.

Dothan core is a good processor...

    Dothan, without a doubt.

I don't think you heard anything negative about the Pentium-M, neither of the processors you listed is a Pentium-4M, which does suck.

The 715 is the superior of the 2 chips you just mentioned; it's based on the newest Dothan core and uses less power and has double the L2 cache. BTW, these Pentium M procs won't work in a P4 laptop as the pinouts are totally different than the P4, even though they are electrically the same as far as the front side bus is concerned. I guess that Intel, in their infinite wisdom, :rolleyes2 didn't want us subbing in a great designed processor into a P4 board. :grr:
