iTunes and music ID tags

I recently got an iPod, and with it I have been saddled with the need to use iTunes to put music on it. All right, fine, I'll do it. I have a problem with the iTunes/iPod interface though:

They only display ID3 tag info instead of filenames.

This may be a unique problem to me, since I have taken the time to neatly name all of my mp3s according to this scheme:

artist - title

I never bothered to correct their individual tags because I really don't care what Winamp displays them as, so long as it plays what I click on in an explorer window.

First question: In iTunes, I don't see any way to display file names - is there some way to add that ability?

Second question: Is there an easy and free way of changing ID3 tags instead of clicking on them one at a time, opening the dialogue, typing something new, and closing. Even something that would let me go directly from one file to the next in alphabetical order would make this a whole lot easier.

    Easy!

Go google a program called Zortam mp3 editor.

Since all your files are neatly named in the "Artist - title" fashion, you can highlight every single song in your computer from within the program, right click, and rename ALL the ID3 from your file names. It'll put artist to artist, title to title.

Thrax... I have two differant folders of MP3's. One has subdirectorys named
artist - album and then the tracks are under the album basicaly. But I also have like 4000 other misc mp3's all named just artist - title. There is no album name. I am playing with the tag and rename program and have not tried yours yet. My problem is retrieving the album name. I have to query amazon.com and have to do it a song at a time basicaly or lets just say I have not found a way to automate the album name retrieval. Can your program do that? Go fetch me the album that the song comes from if I have the artist name and song title?

No, Zortam doesn't access CDDB or any other album/title/artist database to retrieve missing information.

Once I started really using it-- well, that is to say, "Once I committed to it" as my long-term format (AAC lossless), I started to love it.

Now I'm re-ripping my entire CD collection to AAC Lossless for my home theatre.

committed... yes... i'm not so sure i want to become an in-patient yet. ;) seriously though, i got off to a bad start with it, so i guess i'm annoyed at myself more than anything.
