Hi, I have Norton Anti-Virus 2004 and did a scan to find my everything was in the clear but when I do a Scan using SpyBot S&D it comes up with the ERROR Xabot.

I'v done a search on Xabot to find out it is a worm or virus but my Norton Anti-Virus didn't detect it. I am updated with the lastest definitions.

Below is an attachment of what Spybot says.

What should I do?

Thanks

Everytrhing you wanted to know about Xabot:

If Norton is not finding it, try a full Norton Scan in SAFE MODE. If it still does not detcect it, then you are probably safe. Spybot is likely finding some scrap of the infection, but cannot completely resolve it, hence the error. If you were infected, Spybot would show you the entries, not an error.

You have had alot of problems since coming to this site. Xabot is a worm that spreads primarily through peer-to-peer sharing apps like Kazaa. The best way to stop worms is with a hardware firewall, or a properly configured software firewall. Do you have a firewall on your system? If not: GET ONE. Secondly, stay off the P2P apps until you get a firewall, and until you can learn not to be fooled by bogus downloads. There is a whole lot of crap on the P2P networks, from viruses to spyware and trojans, and more. If you don't surf repsonsibly, with proper suspicion, and properly scan each and every file before you open them, you are going to keep having problems. And if you do keep getting new problems, we will have a hard time feeling sorry for you. So, learn more, read our articles on defeating spyware ( http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=132 ) move to a more secure browser, use a firewall and stay off the P2P networks.

    Dexter...

Hi Dexter. I'v enabled the built in firewall on XP (recently found out) but my brother was using Kazaa before I enabled the Firewall but we have uninstalled Kazaa now.

I will do a complete scan in safe mode.
Is there any way of removing 'Xabot'?

    Thanls Dexter

Hi, I went to the link and STEP 2 which is about removing the keys from the registry I cannot see the keys in the registry.

The Xabot error message only appears on Spybot.
