media box

I wanna build a dedicated box for playing dvds, music, and Ill probrably set it up as a pvr to record tv at a later time. Im not gonna use it for games or video editing either. What do I need to do this. id like to hook it up to my reciever through toslink so I could do dolby digital and dts. I have a 1900+ and 256mb stick laying around and a 9000 pro. I probably have a mobo somewhere but would it be better to get like a abit nf7-s or a good soundcard instead? Also I like to get a remote for it so any input would be great, thanks guys.
