Hmm, I guess I spoke too soon. The crackling re-emerged for me again today. This problem is really starting to irritate me. I felt my southbridge and its extremely warm. Maybe a heatsink on there would help? I'm at a loss as I havent had this happen in any other game. :banghead:

Same here, I'm not sure what to do with it right now.

I have no crackling with full hardware acceleration and surround enabled. The same can be said for the other two NF7-S computers capable of playing this game in my house.

Hmmmm.... What firmware level on the board, and which nForce? Considering its you, I'll assume the latest!

edit// Went to bios 25 for the mobo, that was a no go. It appears Abit has a newer driver package on their site though. I'm going to give those a shot.

edit again// Thrax, what nForce drivers are you using? The abit site is calling out 5.03 as the version while nVidia calls out 4.27 as the latest. Does abit do anything special for theirs?

I'm using 4.27 international from nVidia. 4.9 beta for my video, and DX9C. Windows XP SP1.

I haven't flashed the BIOS in as long as I can remember, but it's within three recent versions.

The boards are all C1 revision Ultra 400.

Only difference between you and I is 9.0c and XP. I'm just about to throw on 9.0c, we'll see if that clears it up.

//edit 9.0c didn't fix it. Thinking about trying XP just for the hell of it to see what happens.

Hey Thrax, is there really any performance gain with the 4.9's? I have both the 4.7's and 4.9's ready, but I'm not sure which to use...

Thrax suggested to just go with the 4.9's, so I did. I've noticed, though, that the game seems ... weird. Like it jiggles sometimes :S. Not blocky, or jumping picture, but like sometimes it'll get kinda wavy in spots... I think it may have more to do with my monitor's bitchiness about changing resolutions, though.

Sure it's not the heat fogging effect?
