hello another person with homesearch

hello all my name is matt and i have a small and very annoying problem. i have homesearch, search extender, and shopping wizard, oddly enough they show up in my add remove programs list. i have a current version of spybot s& d and have cleaned everything it has found. also on a curious note after getting this stuff i was not able to use system restore. usually if i have a problem like this i use that, but alas it won't work so i was woundering if i could get some advise from you guys about how to get rid of this software. i also run sophos anti virus, and keep that updated as well.

here is my hjt log file

Sorry to take so long to get to you, it has been very busy around here the last few days!

Before we do anything else, can you check something? We had another user post a fix for this that worked for him, and I want to test it out on a few others...

    See this post:

    http://www.short-media.com/forum/showpost.php?p=169642&postcount=4

Follwo the instructions there, and tell me if that Services entry is there for you too. If so, follow his instructions, then post a fresh HJT log for me.

    Dexter...

Nope, still a couple of things to get rid of....

Oh, and put HJT into it's own working folder, such as c:/HJT, so that backups from the fixes have a safe place to stay. If you see a folder called "backup" on your desktop, move that too - it has the backups from any fixes you made already.

Reboot in SAFE MODE. Run HJT. FIX:

Next, stay in SAFE MODE, and locate those .exe files mentioned above. Make sure you are set to show hidden files and folders on your system, instructions to do that are in the link above "Steps to take before posting a Hijack This log."

Move these files to a new folder called :C:\Quarantine. Rename the the .exe's to .xxx. That way you can always replace them if it somehow turns out that one or more of these are necessary files....which is not likely, but quarantining is safer than deleting them.

Reboot normally, check things out, and let us know how it looks. Post a fesh log for further review.
