system crashes to desktop
System: gigabyte GA-K8NNXP
amd64 3200
1g geil 3200 ddr400
audigy 2 zs
fx5200 (waiting for delivery of 6800ultra)
power supply Hyena 500W ATX Power Supply (I dont know the amps but here is the site to the power supplys specs:
http://www.vivid-computers.co.nz/products/...productid=11890
Found the specs sheet:
http://www.apextechusa.com/datasheet/ATX500W.pdf
My games Battlefield 1942 and Doom 3 crash to desktop or freeze and I have to reboot. I get about 5 -10 mins before the game gives up.
It is not the drivers, soundcard or video card as I have tried different video cards, run the game without the soundcard and used the latest drivers.
I belive a power supply must run have at least 18amps to power an amd 64
Suggestions anyone. .
Cheers

1) a temp problem - go ahead and install the gigabyte supplied temperature and voltage monitoring tool, or google for motherboard monitor. the stock HSF may not be doing its job
2) a memory problem - your memory may be bad. use memtest86+
cheers but no fan on the 5200.
I wi :Rocker: sh it was gonna be that easy.
Well poop on your 5200

Yep, it took 5 hours all ok.
What I just discovered was the advanced chipset functions and I turned off the fastwrite. It seems more stable, I got 10 mins of game play....then no crash but a screen freeze.
Searching through EA's support site, most of the crash problems are Direct X related.
