Hello, I have been out to the beach until today, I had no internet connection so it was impossible to reply. Sorry for the delay.

I'm just studying for the september exams, didn't had a very long holidays this year but, I suppose getting those subjects approved is worth the time!

    :)

Looks like Abit knows how to market a motherboard. :D
Interestingly, Abit's web site has chosen to market the motherboard at enthusiasts who trade files using the Kazaa peer-to-peer software.

It has a new technology called secure IDE, and Abit suggests that you put it to good use.

    Here is the link.

Abit should make PCI IDE/SATA cards to use SecureIDE.

Maybe the RIAA will sue ABIT, and be too busy to bother everybody else.

i dont think the RIAA can sue abit for that..i mean its nothing more than a firewall...amd u have a damn right to keep everything on ur computer private..i mean shiznet/....

...I agree with you that they couldn't sue merely because of the technology - there are certainly many uses to which it could be applied.

I think where they might have a case is in the fact that Abit is encouraging activity which the RIAA (and maybe the courts - we'll see) considers illegal. It's legal to sell sleeping pills, but if you start running ads saying "this will make it easy to bump off old granny so you can collect the inheritance - and they can't catch you!" you're probably going to get into trouble.

I'm not saying that I wish Abit would stop doing this - I think it's a good idea to show the RIAA just how easy it would be to circumvent their snooping - but I do think they're asking for trouble.

I just went looking at Abit's site.
The statement is there allright, in the press release.
ABIT's SecureIDE will keep government supercomputers busy for weeks and will keep the RIAA away from your Kazaa files.
    :eek3:

That is a quote directly from the press material.
At first I could not find it, but it was there indeed.
