Compaq P1100 refresh rates scewed up

edited August 2004 in Hardware
I just got my compaq p1100 from merkortech and it seems like it won't display anything except 60 hz refresh no matter what the resolution. I installed the driver i downloaded off the compaq site and followed all the instructions. Windows seems to think it is displaying the correct refresh rates but this is way too flickery for 120 hz. I don't even see a difference between 120 and 60. Also, whenever i hit the menu button for the monitor it shows a khz number with a "/" and then a hz number. The hz number is staying at 60 no matter what i do and i think thats the one thats supposed to display the refresh rate.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

    1. Right click on your desktop.
    2. Hit properties.
    3. Click the settings tab.
    4. Hit advanced
    5. Click the displays tab.
    6. Click the monitor button.
    7. Set "Refresh Rate Override" to 60Hz
    8. Set "Maximum Refresh" to 85Hz.
    9. Hit ok.
    10. Go to the monitor tab.
    11. Change your refresh rate to 85Hz
    12. Hit ok.
    13. Change your resolution to 1600x1200
    14. Download Reforce
    15. Launch the program.
    16. Hit ok to the first warning box.
    17. Hit auto-populate.
    18. Hit apply.
    19. Close the program.
    20. Set your resolution to an odd resolution.
    21. Set your resolution back to what you desire.
    22. All resolutions will now support and use the maximum refresh rate.

    It's a windows problem.

Actually, you could use it to set the real max refresh rates using the website's specs and that app, as 85hz isn't the max refresh rate for all the resolutions.

    That fixed it, thanks.
