Doom 3/Radeon 9800 Pro Bug

edited August 2004 in Gaming
If you are playing doom 3 with a radeon 9800 pro, don't quickload after you die, wait for the menu to come up and load. If you quickload while you are laying dead on the floor, the lighting engine messes up and the framerate dies and the flashlight is useless.

Yeah, try the beta ATI 4.9s, I run them and have no problems videowise with the game.

I have the 4.9's and it just happened to me. I got out of the game completely and went back and same still corrupt ...flashlight doesn't light anything but itself. Hmmm ...maybe will have to reboot.
Quickload fine up until this point.

I just had to restart the level. Re-loading the engine seems to work for me.

I did manage a workaround at some point ...if I switch to a weapon and back to flashlight it usually works ok. My sound still gets corrupt after about 30 mins though. I go into config and change the setting of suuround to something else and then back to surround and it works for another 30 mins ...and thats with the hard accel set at basic. Maybe my southbridge needs extra cooling.

A better way is to just manually load the game instead of a quickload
