Mackanz or nForce 2 memory experts
Quick one..
Im running two sticks of 256mb TwinMOS PC3200 in my NF7-S, but really wanna get one gig.
A guy has just offered me an additional matching stick of 512mb(same chips, PC3200 TwinMOS) for £50 inc Del.
That will give me my gig of DDR but will it kill my performance by filling all 3 channels on teh board?? Im so damn sure that I might lose a few mhz on the FSB but it should still be stable.
Think it's a good deal?? Im being braindead in remembering my nForce2 setup
Ps.. I put Mackanz in the title, cause he was the one who helped me sort my memory and overclocking out, I have total faith in his advice

I wish I could help out on this Shorty, but I haven't tried running with all 3 slots filled in my nforce2 board. I'd say to go for it though, if that is a good price for that twinmoss over in the UK. That way, even if it does drop your mem benchies back, you can still sell the 2-256 sticks and buy you another 512 twinmoss to match this one. That way you can still enjoy the benefits of a gig of ram.
Another thought I had is that 2 of the dimms are on 1 channel and the other is the second channel so put the 512 in the second channel dimm and the 256's in the other channel; I think it might just work out OK.
Sorry for reporting late captain! Won´t happen again!.
Shorty,
To be frank. The few flops or the little memory BW you loose by not running dual is peanuts compare to a half gig of DDR ram.
My guess is that you will still be able to run those memorys at least 200 fsb. Geez, 9 months ago, getting 200 fsb was an accomplishment, now it´s perfectly normal. I know what more memory means to your usage, just get it. If it gets your oc VERY bad, just use the 2 small sticks, sell the big one, or sell the small ones. Either way, 50 quid is a VERY good price. Sell the 2 small ones and get another 512 stick with the same chips. We´ll handle the oc when you have your new sticks in.
Number one. I shall make it so
I just got it for £50 inc DEL (he sold me the last two sticks of TwinMOS I got). Due on Tuesday. My 2500+ is backed off to 11x200 at the moment but I know this will do 10.5x220 with ease, this TwinMOS rules!
Thanks Mack and thanks Jim for your replies!
