Macromedia Flash Player and other various programs on Win XP 64

edited September 2004 in Hardware
I installed the Beta version of Windows XP 64-Bit Edition and I'm having some software problems.

I installed Macromedia Flash Player, but it just won't run. The flash applets won't load. Anyone know what's wrong?

Another program I'm having trouble with is the Google Toolbar. I download it, and after the first time, it'll show up. But if I close IE and re-open it, the toolbar disappears! Anyone know what's up with that? Is it my Spy Sweeper?

My AIM refuses to start up with Windows. I chose the option that it would start up with Windows, but it refuses. I dunno what's up. I'm about to reformat and move onto Linux...

If anyone can help me, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Or you could just not use a super secret handshake beta edition of an OS slated for 2005. ;)

ok my friend check this out... click start> all programs> Internet Explorer (32-bit) here you will find your google toolbar, and Flash to be running without any problem ;) I know it sucks that you cant have flash running on 64 bit version of IE but if you need it, 32 bit workes just as good. I hope i helped you out ;)

I installed all of the Half-Life Plantinum Pack games and updated them with Steam. But they run slow on my new system running WinXP 64. Actually, the movements with the mouse seem to move at normal speed, but when I jump and shoot, it is about half as slow as normal. Windows installed my ATI Radeon 9600 SE as an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. Would this make a difference in performance or is half-life just not able to run correclty in this environment? I haven't found any 64-bit drivers for my ATI Radeon 9600 SE. :banghead:

Windows device manager displays the two entries below:

    Display Adaptors:
RADEON 9600 PRO Famliy (Microsoft Corporation)
RADEON 9600 PRO SEC Famliy (Microsoft Corporation)

    Windows XP 64-bit
    AMD Athlon 64 3200+
    ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
    1GB Corsair DDR
    36GB SATA Raptor
    ATI Radeon 9600 SE
    AD1980 SoundMax
