wireless home network

hi, i hope someone can help i have my desktop on a dlink ethernet modem and a belkin router and i am trying to connect to them with my laptop my desktop is on xp my laptop on 98se i have a network connection but when i try to connect to the internet nothing
please help

    Is it your LapTop that doesnt work or both?
