Initial Tune-up

edited August 2004 in Spyware & Virus Removal
Just got my second daughter a new (remanufactured) Dell laptop for college. I loaded and ran Ad-aware, Spybot, Spywareblaster, and CWShredder.

I do not believe there are any problems, so I just wanted to check if there was anything to remove to improve performance, etc.

Please let me know what any suggestions might be and why I should consider removing the object. Thanks

It might take me a few days to respond as I am covered up at work. Hope to be back on a more regular basis after Thursday.

Vanagon, just my 2 cents...you can safely kill the processes for Synaptics after boot-up using the Task Manager if you are using a mouse...they drive the integrated touch-pad. Also, the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot and C:\Program Files\America Online 8.0\aoltray.exe should be changed through their respective utilites to load manually...they eat resources, sometimes interrupt your work and really don't add much value.
Having said that, I should let you know that my preference is to have as little as possible running in the background; most services will load as their parent programs are run
    HTH!

Got rid of the AOL tray icon and the 2 BHOs. Can't figure out the RealPlayer updater. Tried with RealPlayer "preferences" but does not look like I got the job done.

    Here's new log
