Yeah, I just got 2 fps (28-30) in the demo at 1024x768, vsynch on, and 2xAA.

Edit// Just did a back to back with and w/o the fix on high at 1024x768, vsynch on, 2xaa.

    No Fix-
    25.5
    27.9

    With Fix-
    26.4
    28.5

It is faster, but for some reason the game doesn't look as good. It seems to highlight the edges of things more and make it seem almost as if white light is coming out of them.

Good example here about halfway down http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14874&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40&sid=3324cb0088733a3236ca941219bc7ae9

    No 40% increase here. :(

    Before code
    24.7
    27.8
    27.7

    After code
    25.3
    28.4
    28.3

1024x768 high quality v-sync, no aa

Primarily, I do believe this tweak benefits X800 architecture.

I agree. I've not been scared by ANY media since I was.. What? 5? 7?

This game manages to keep me on edge and scare the piss out of me every 10 minutes.

Will you guys please quit teasing me with all this D3 talk? I haven't been fortunate enough to pick up the game and get an x800 pro card yet. I can't wait... Does the game have a replay feature so some can post small clips of the game? That would be really cool.

i think so but you can capture in-game video with fraps. i'd try it but with fraps it slows your system down massively.

and yes it is worth it. this game is just awesome.

I read an article, not sure if its the same one. It claimed 40% increase. Later down the thread he tested it some more, and that increase is only with no shadows. With the shadows its more like 15%. Still an increase though.

I have to say that even though I haven't played the game, AVP 1 was the only game that ever gave me the heebie-jeebies. I wonder if Doom III will too? I hope!!

    It should really.

    1.) Don't use any cheats.
    2.) Use 5.1 surround headset.
3.) Turn out all the lights.

    Guarnateed heebie-jeebies!

If you play for too long at a time it gets a bit monotonous so you may want to limit yourself to certain amount of time or levels or something.

I dunno, AvP2 was very like the movie, ie, you never knew when one was going to jump at you. Brilliant game though a bit short. Doom3 is great but not as atmospheric as AvP2.
BTW, with fraps mine shows 60FPS 50% of the time, it may drop to 40 when the action gets going. 1024x768 2xAA high quality. It looks very nice now I've turned the gamma up a bit and can see.
